Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance Division


The Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance Division of the Fisheries Commission is responsible for the monitoring, control, and surveillance of all fishing operations within the fishery waters by whatever appropriate means, including

  1. The management and running of a satellite base station for using satellite communications for data transmission relating to the activities of foreign fishing vessels licensed to operate within the zone, and

  2. The enforcement of the Fisheries Act 625, the Regulations, and any other enactment relating to the regulation of fishing activities.

 

Functions

The core functions of the division are to:

  1. Manage and run a satellite base station to monitor all Ghanaian registered fishing vessels;

  2. Enforce the fisheries Act 625 and Regulations and any other enactment relating to the regulation of fishing activities; and

  3. Fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities in our waters

 

The MCSD is headed by Godfrey Baidoo-Tsibu.
