The National Premix Fuel Secretariat has held a sensitization session for new Oil Marketing Companies (OMCS) recently granted approval by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD) to lift and transport fuel to Landing Beaches across the country.

The new OMC’s numbering fourteen (14) gained approval from MOFAD after meeting operational requirements stipulated by the Ministry to ensure efficiency in the Premix Fuel distribution value chain.

The approval of new OMCs comes on the back of calls to improve efficiency in the distribution chain and the consequent resolve of the Ministry under the Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, the sector Minister to achieve this.

Addressing the OMCs, Administrator for the National Premix Fuel Secretariat, Nana Abrokwa Asare explained that the new OMCs had been admitted to help shore up efforts being made by the secretariat to improve Premix Fuel distribution. He also noted that the secretariat will not renege on its commitment to stamping out diversion and its related ills despite achieving significant success in quelling the menace in the last half decade.

“I congratulate you all on your approval and wish to use this opportunity extend to you the best wishes of the Hon. Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson at whose behest I am superintending over this meeting.

We are genuinely pleased to have you join us as I believe like the already existing OMCs, we shall work together to take Premix distribution a notch higher and consequently improve productivity in the fisheries sector.

I implore you to adhere to all operational guidelines specified to you during your application formalities as this will determine the continued validity of your approval.” He ended.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are licensed by the regulatory body National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to receive Premix Fuel from Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) to supply and distribute them to Landing Beaches across the country.

All OMCs who want to supply Premix Fuel must first get license of operation from the National Premix Fuel Secretariat after which an authorisation note will be issued to TOR and the NPA to permit the OMCs to supply and distribute Premix Fuel.

Currently, there are 27 OMCs working with the National Premix Fuel Secretariat to supply Premix Fuel from TOR to Landing Beaches across the country.
